this project was written in a day as an exercise in trying to be spontaneous and worrying less about being perfect. that being said, i sat on it for 6 months. go figure!

it's about the nightjar family of birds, the most common of which being the whip-poor-will. i became interested in these birds after seeing an Audubon print at my local art museum; they're really funky looking and there's lots of cool folklore associated with whip-poor-wills in particular.
